dc.description.abstract Under Public Act 174 of 1976 (later Public Act 272, Section 221 of 2000), North American Indians that are residents of Michigan are provided free tuition to Michigan public community colleges, public universities, and certain Federal tribally controlled community colleges. This is the report produced by Oakland Community College disclosing the number of North American Indian students enrolled, the number of tuition waivers granted, and the monetary value of the waivers. Once the information is reported, formerly the Department of Education (now done by the Department of Labor & Economic Growth) compiles the information and submits it to the Senate and House Appropriations Subcommittees on Community Colleges, the Senate and House Fiscal Agencies, and the State Budget Director. en_US
