Abstract:
The Office of Institutional Research participates in two national data sharing
consortiums: the National Community College Benchmarking Project (NCCBP) and the
Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE). Both of these projects
provide the opportunity for OCC to review specific data elements and how our
performance compares with peer institutions.
The National Community College Benchmark Project provides community colleges with
opportunities to report outcome and effectiveness data in critical performance areas,
receive reports of benchmarks, and compare results with those of other colleges.
CCSSE’s survey instrument, The Community College Student Report, provides
information on student engagement, a key indicator of learning and, therefore, of the
quality of community colleges. The survey, administered to community college students,
asks questions that assess institutional practices and student behaviors that are
correlated highly with student learning and student retention.
