dc.description.abstract The purpose of this report is to present information to assist in reviewing and evaluating the proposed changes in the existing Welding and Fabricating Program at Oakland Community College. The needs assessment was initiated by Dr. Bill Rose, Dean of Academic Services, and members of the Welding department. It includes a comprehensive literature review, data supplied by the U.S. Department of Labor, Michigan Occupational Information System (MOIS) and the Michigan Employment Security Commission (MESC), industry forecasts, an examination of related programs in other institutions of higher education, phone surveys of employers in the welding industry and students who have recently enrolled in Welding courses. en_US
