This assessment was conducted in order to assist the Curriculum Committee in its evaluation of the emergency public services program proposal. Through a combination of courses from existing programs in Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Technology, and Fire Fighter Technology, the new program would offer students an opportunity to earn an associate degree in emergency public services. This program would not replace existing programs or courses but would supplement current offerings. This report includes: a review of related literature, employment statistics (provided by The Occupational Outlook Handbook, Michigan Employment Security Commission, and the Michigan Occupational Information System) and information supplied by employers, OCC students, and professional associations. In addition, program coordinators and faculty members involved with similar programs at other institutions were contacted. |
